the tears fall

like sweat on a sweltering day

i am the tinman

   the man with no heart

but memories

   fade slowly

the tomorrow

  that I dream of

will never be

   love is

a flash flood

   in the desert

love thrives for

   a minute

like flowers that

   bloom

cacti holding

   their water

protected by spines

   my heart has

turned to stone

haunted by memories

   the road to oz

is filled with giant potholes

the wiz

   couldn’t fix humpty

so how can he help me

   memories fade slowly

the tears fall

   like

fading memories
